 Craftsmanship, Custom, and Finish.

Antigua Doors roots go back to Danville, California where in 1990, Clay and Gabriela Ramsey founded a boutique retail store.  It catered to many of the top architects, builders, and designers in the San Francisco Bay Area.  At the time, the door industry was experiencing dramatic change.   Many of the old school carpenters and medium sized door shops were rapidly being replaced by mass-producing multinationals.  The result was an inferior product with extremely limited custom capabilities.  Clay and Gabriela believed that more refined buyers would continue to want a well crafted door with a sophisticated, hand applied finish.  They also believed that these same buyers would at times want a specific product that could only be custom built. They were right and their business reaped the benefits by experiencing tremendous growth in the years that followed.

In 2009, Clay and Gabriela made the decision to sell Antigua Doors to the owners of Antigua Furniture.  Antigua Furniture had been founded years earlier by Richard Mueller, Rex Murphy, and William Miller on the same basic principles that Clay and Gabriela founded their business on.  Antigua Furniture was already well known in the furniture industry for having the highest construction standards as well as the most beautiful finishes.  In addition, Antigua Furniture had a reputation for being able to build just about anything a client could think of as long as it could be photographed or sketched on a piece of paper.  The integration of Antigua Doors and Antigua Furniture was a match made in heaven.

Antigua Furniture was already a very established company with extensive operations including a 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility.  This union provided the opportunity for increased production capabilities and efficiencies, while at the same time strictly maintaining the standards of a bench made product. Today, Antigua Doors and Antigua Furniture cater to markets throughout the United States and beyond, with headquarters located outside of Austin, Texas.  Richard Mueller has assumed the role as President and Director of Production, while Clay and Gabriela continues to be a part of the dynamic team as the owners of their original retail store in Danville, California.  Our combined efforts make Antigua Doors among the most outstanding door companies  in the world.  We pride ourselves on our exceptional craftsmanship, superb custom work, and our ability to produce the most beautiful finishes in the industry.
